This page explains what gardenkinds.com collects, why, and what you can do about it. Plain version: we collect very little, we don’t sell anything to anyone, and you can ask us to delete what we hold.
Who We Are
gardenkinds.com is a gardening publication. Our contact address for anything on this page is hello@gardenkinds.com.
What We Collect
Analytics. Aggregated, anonymised data about how the site is used — pages viewed, roughly which country you’re in, which device, and how you arrived. We can’t identify individuals from it, and we don’t try.
Your email address, but only if you type it into the newsletter form yourself. Nothing else comes with it.
Whatever you send us. If you email, we hold that message and your address for as long as it takes to deal with it.
Comments, if enabled on a page, store the name, email, and text you submit, along with your IP address for spam filtering.
We do not collect payment details, we do not run accounts or logins, and we do not build advertising profiles.
Why We Collect It
Analytics tell us which guides people actually read, which is how we decide what to write and improve next. Your email is used for the newsletter and nothing else. Messages you send are used to reply to you.
Legal Basis
For readers in the UK and EU: analytics and comments rely on legitimate interest in running and improving the site. The newsletter relies on your consent, which you give by subscribing and withdraw by unsubscribing.
Cookies
The site uses cookies for basic function and for analytics. You can block or delete them in your browser settings — the site will still work, though some preferences won’t be remembered. Embedded content from other sites, such as video players, may set its own cookies that we don’t control.
Third Parties
We use outside services for analytics and email delivery, and we may carry affiliate or advertising links. Those companies process data under their own policies. We never sell, rent, or trade your personal information.
How Long We Keep Things
Newsletter subscriptions are held until you unsubscribe. Emails you send are kept for up to two years. Analytics data is retained in aggregate form only.
Your Rights
You can ask to see what we hold about you, have it corrected, have it deleted, or object to how it’s used. Email us and we’ll deal with it within one month. If you’re in the UK you can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office; EU readers can go to their national data protection authority.
Children
This site is written for adults and isn’t aimed at children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has submitted information, email us and we’ll remove it.
Changes
Any updates appear on this page with a revised date at the top. Substantial changes affecting subscribers will be mentioned in the newsletter.
